🤍 Played by: Georgc3 Marion has been kidnapped by the black warriors and demanded the lee brothers to disclose their martial arts secrets in return for Marion's freedom. The Lee brothers retaliate by going on a mission to rescue and save Marion. They use whatever technique they have like basic punches, kicks, jump kicks, elbow strike, head butts, as well as weapons. That comes to their hands. The Lee brothers must pursue the gangs through city slums, industrial areas, and the forest reaching out to the black warriors' hideout to confront big boss, Willy the gunman. This is easily the best version of the original Double Dragon. I used to play this game a lot in the arcades. At the very last level where the final boss, while I was attacking Abodo, he grabbed and threw me up in the balcony where Willy the gunman was standing. Wow, did not notice it. It gave me the shortcut to beat him at an instant. After defeating Willy the gunman, all other enemies start to retreat. I only managed to kill one enemy which was Jeff preventing him from escaping. I assumed the difficulty was played on medium or hard since I did not check the settings at all. Tried playing this game on MAME-Rerecording but the emulator movie file desync so I had to play it on MAMEUI with directing AVI recording instead. - Disclaimer: Most videos by World of Longplays use SaveStates!

Technos (by way of freshman NES publisher Tradewest) follows up on Renegade with a home conversion of a massive arcade hit that plays extremely fast and loose with the meaning of the phrase "home conversion." Double Dragon on NES may as well be a completely different game than the coin-op smash, as it adds several new mechanics, expands the game environments, introduces platforming sequences, helps invent the one-on-one fighting genre, and—whoops—loses the cooperative gameplay feature that gave the game its name in the first place. The end result is a game that doesn't sit well with those who demand absolute fidelity in their arcade ports, but that nevertheless stands out as one of the most ambitious, polished, and attractive games yet seen on the platform. From this point on, arcade-to-NES adaptations will lean heavily on the "adaptations" angle, and (along with Rygar and Punch-Out!!), Double Dragon is one of the first works to truly define what NES coin-on conversion would look like in the coming years. A playthrough of Acclaim's 1991 beat 'em up game for the NES, Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones. This Technos developed brawler followup to the classic Double Dragon II: The Revenge is a good game, but it doesn't compare as favorably to its predecessor as it would probably like. The graphics are packed with detail, but are somewhat lacking in character compared to part 2. Despite the diversity of the background graphics, the whole thing manages to look pretty generic. And very brown. The music is excellent though, and the controls are quite a bit easier to handle than they were in the first two games. I also really liked how the choice of multiple characters provided a bit of variety to the gameplay. The main problem with the game is that its challenge is a bit on the obnoxious side. It's nowhere near as hard as most people make it out to be (though to be fair, it's absolutely brutal until you figure out that 95% of the enemy attacks can be easily sidestepped by moving up and down), but it quickly becomes repetitive. But, the story line, however pointless and senseless, is pretty entertaining and helps to break the monotony. It does bear mentioning that this wasn't a straight port of the arcade version (Double Dragon III: The Rosetta Stone) - there are a fair few differences. Of course, this was typical for NES Double Dragon games, though the Japanese version of DD3 kept the story line much closer to the arcade's one than the US version did. The Sacred Stones certainly isn't a bad game. It plays smoothly, moves well, and puts up a reasonable challenge, and it is quite a bit of fun until it wears out its welcome on the 700th wave of the same pair of enemies. DD3 sits firmly in third place behind DD1 and 2, but then again, so do the great majority of NES beat 'em ups. No cheats were used during the recording of this video. One project I have been working on throughout this year, is the ultimate Double Dragon Retrospective, looking at every game published in said series. We are now deep into the history of the franchise and have looked at many different instalments from over the years. But from where we left off last time, the brand was now in terrible shape and the development house behind the original game, known as Technos Japan had declared bankruptcy and were no more. Things could not be much worse for the Double Dragon series and following various mishaps, the future of the franchise was looking grim to say the least. This was until the release of a new game in the lineup, known as Double Dragon Advance, released in 2003 for the Nintendo GBA. In today’s video, we are going to look at this game, how it came to be with Technos no longer in the picture and if the Double Dragon franchise finally returned to good form. This ladies and gentlemen is the mad story of Double Dragon Advance, the return of the King. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh. Under the development leadership of Yoshisa Kishimoto in the nineteen-eighties, the first two Double Dragon titles released in Arcades were truly genre-defining games. The man’s spiritual follow-ups to Renegade or Nekketsu Koha Kunio Kun as it was released in Japan were revolutionary in their play mechanics. Offering two-player co-operative side-scrolling beat em up fun for the first time. While after this point many Japanese game developers would take influence from Kishimoto's work and build on it, resulting in many high-quality games.
