I bought the best snowmobile ever made! At least that's how I feel after picking up this beautiful 2006 Skidoo Skandic SWT 550 fan snowmobile last spring. Although you're probably wondering why you haven't heard anything about this snowmobile on the channel yet, I figured a good thing like this is worth waiting for. As you'll see on today's video, this snowmobile has been gone through with a fine-tooth comb as I have spent the past few months giving this snowmobile the attention it deserves. After getting good at replacing bearings, filters and fuel lines, I am happy to introduce this snowmobile to you today. You'll see the comparison between all three of my snowmobiles in today's episode including my 2003 Skidoo Grand Touring 550f, 1997 Skidoo Touring E 380f and the new 2006 Skidoo Skandic SWT 550f. After doing all my chores with the 15" wide tracked snowmobiles, this new 24" wide track on my skandic is like night and day. With floating and traction to spare, I'll surely be hauling some big log loads around the bush this season. Glad you're all here to share in my excitement, here we go!

With all the white stuff outside, the kids have been anxiously waiting for Alan to fire up their vintage snowmobile, a Skidoo Olympic. The Skidoo was a Christmas present last year that the kids really enjoy. While getting that snowmobile running, Alan gets his Larson Hawk running too. Jen's Dad joined the fun with his 1998 Arctic Cat Jag. After many pulls and no start, the snowmobiles needed a little shot of starting fluid. Success! Once the smoke cleared, the snowmobiles were ready for a test drive around the farm. While Justin was still out riding, Alan fired up the small generator to have ready in case we happen to lose power again. The cold and snow is here today, so might as well make the best of it. Summerize your snowmobile and get it ready for storage, so that you can hit the ground running come next riding season. Follow these steps: 1) Add XPS Fuel Stabilizer to your fuel before starting this process. 2) With your sled parked in a well ventilated area, start the engine and let it warm to operating temp. 3) Put your sled's display in "Trip A" mode using the rotary dial. (Note: For the 4.5” and 7.2” Digital Display push the SET (S) button to select odometer mode. With the other displays, the storage mode does not function in other modes such as Trip A, Trip B and HR.) 4) With the sled still running, rapidly push the High Beam button to turn it on and off, then hold the phone off/volume down button while continuing to cycle the high/low beam button until you see "Press and hold button for oil injection." (NOTE: For the 4.5” and 7.2” Digital Display repeatedly depress the HI/LOW beam switch rapidly, then, while doing this, press and hold the SET button until PUSH "S" appears on the display and proceed to follow on-screen instructions.) 5) Press and hold the "Phone off/Volume down" button until you see the "oil" message appear on the screen and release the button. NOTE: You'll hear the engine RPMs increase slightly during the engine fogging process. 6) Once the automatic engine fogging process is complete, the engine will automatically shut down and your E-TEC engine is now ready for summer storage. After a season of riding, your snowmobile's chaincase oil could contain moisture or contaminants. That’s why we always recommend adding a chaincase oil change to your summerization to-do list for your Ski-Doo Snowmobile. Follow these steps to get your snowmobile ready: 1) Park your snowmobile on a level surface and remove the right side panel. 2) With an oil catch pan placed below the chaincase drain plug, loosen the drain plug. 3) Clean the drain plug. You may find a very small amount of metal shavings on the magnetic tip of the drain plug, especially if this is the first time you've changed chaincase oil. This is normal. 4) After all the oil is drained, replace the drain plug. 5) Pop the rubber chaincase cap off located on the side of the chaincase. 6) Using a clean funnel, pour your new chaincase oil in. The XPS Synthetic Chaincase Oil comes in a 12 oz. container—just the amount you need. 7) Replace the rubber cap and secure the side panel back on. You're done! It’s just that simple. In 1993, Ski Doo upped the ante with their Mach 1 twin-cylinder go-fast. The Mach Z was a spring order-only machine, with only 600 built. (The first Mach Z had a fiberglass hood that was replaced with plastic in the following years.) The 774 cc engine features a reed valve intake with RAVE variable exhaust valves, triple pipes, and flatside Mikuni TM 38 carbs. Note that the Rotary valve was out on this new Ski Doo. The factory-equipped skis were metal on top, but plastic on the ski bottoms. The F2000 chassis included a DSA (Direct Shock Action) trailing arm front suspension. Compared to other F2000-based models, heavier springs were added for its triple-cylinder engine. Out back, there were three shocks in the rear suspension. NOTE in the video, I miss-spoke about the engine displacement. It is 774 cc (780 type)
